Koper research centre signs cooperation agreement with Taiwan university

Koper, 4 June - The Koper Science and Research Centre (ZRS) signed a cooperation agreement with the National Taiwan Sport University in Koper on Tuesday. The agreement entails exchanges of students and researchers, with ZRS head Rado Pišot seeing the most potential for cooperation in sports sociology and sports diagnostics.

Today's signing formalises the existing cooperation among researchers from the two institutions. The ZRS has 14 researchers from seven countries and is already cooperating with institutions in China and Japan.

Ping-Kun Chiu, the president of National Taiwan Sport University, who was in Koper for the signing, said that the ZRS was well known for its research.

The university in Taiwan was established in 1976 and has since produced a number of top athletes. Its president was himself a top-level archer who competed in the 1988 Olympics in Seoul.

The head of the Institute for Kinesiological Research, Boštjan Šimunič, believes that research involving the Taiwanese university would focus on studying the effects of space travel on humans, physical rehabilitation of top athletes, and new forms of physical activity and their effects on longevity.
