Work starting on "university of the future"
Ljubljana, 4 December - A three-year, EUR 5 million project by six European universities to develop a new model of internationally connected, inclusive, student-led higher education officially kicked off in Ljubljana on Monday.
The University of Ljubljana as the lead partner has joined forces with Vrije Universiteit Brussel, CY Cergy Paris Université, the University of Gothenburg, the Pompeu Fabra University - Barcelona and the University of Warwick, which form the EUTOPIA network.
EUTOPIA has been designed to improve the mobility of students, academics, and university staff by testing new methods of cooperative teaching, learning, and working beyond national borders.
University of Ljubljana Chancellor Igor Papič said the ultimate goal of the project was to frame a long-term strategy on how to reform universities in line with the latest practices and approaches on the knowledge market.
The project will accelerate the work of EUTOPIA by improving student and staff mobility, and by promoting joint innovations that serve the general public.
According to Papič, over the next three years, work will be under way to build the "university of the future".
