Summer school explores intersection of neuroscience and rehabilitation
Piran, 31 July - Piran hosted the international TBrainBoost summer school from 16 to 20 July where students learned about the role of neuroscience in connection with clinical work and economy, the Koper Science and Research Centre (ZRS) said.
The attendees addressed the possibilities of combining neuroscientific discoveries with neuro-rehabilitation innovations, paying special attention to connection between academics and business in rehabilitation after a stroke.
They discussed how technology can help combat physical and mental exhaustion, how robotics and AI are transforming the society and science and touched on the connections between the theoretical and practical knowledge in physiotherapy.
The students learned about balance exercises to prevent falls and gait and posture abnormalities after deep brain stimulation in Parkinson's patients.
On the final day the students presented their projects that they created under the mentorship of lecturers.
The summer school hosted students, lecturers and mentors from Slovenia, Belgium, Germany and Switzerland.
