Slovenian physicist Prosen appointed member of ERC top body
Ljubljana, 25 September - Mathematical physicist Tomaž Prosen, a professor at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Ljubljana, was appointed by the European Commission on Wednesday a member of the scientific council of the European Research Council (ERC).
In addition to Prosen, the European Commission also appointed Maarit Karppinen in the Aalto University in Finland to the body that governs the ERC and is responsible for setting the its scientific strategy.
Both Prosen and Karppinen will start their four-year terms in 1 January 2024.
Prosen has dedicated his career to nonequilibrium quantum and statistical physics. He has been a tenured professor at the Ljubljana Faculty of Mathematics and Physics since 2008 and is a member of the Slovenian Academy of Arts and Sciences (SAZU).
