Greentech to develop innovative solutions for climate goals
Ljubljana, 16 October - Three Slovenian higher education institutions and eight companies have joined forces to develop innovative solutions for reducing CO2 emissions and energy consumption while encouraging circular economy as part of Greentech, a project worth EUR 5.2 million which the partners presented in Ljubljana on Wednesday.
Among the main goals are also reducing material consumption, introducing smart management of systems, and developing green household appliances.
The project will receive EUR 3.75 million from the country's national recovery and resilience plan.
Mihael Sekavčnik, dean of the Ljubljana Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the leading partner, said "Greentech is an important step in our commitment to develop sustainable technologies".
He believes that the "collaboration between different partners will enable a faster transition to new technologies, which is key to achieving the climate goals".
The faculty described the project as a "revolution in industry with the focus on development of advanced, sustainable technologies" which will also offer comprehensive solutions that will have a major impact on climate goals.
Špela Stres, director of the country's Agency for Scientific Research and Innovation (ARIS), said that investment in research and innovation is a key factor for productivity and economic development.
Janko Slavič, the faculty's vice dean, said "Greentech will provide comprehensive solutions that will improve the competitiveness of Slovenian companies while also contributing to green transition".
Apart from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Social Sciences, both from the University of Ljubljana, the third higher education institution participating in the project is the Faculty of Management of the University of Primorska.
The participating companies are Gorenje, Fotona, Domel, LPKF, Yaskawa Slovenija, Danfoss Trata, Kronoterm, and Medius.
